What Are Pigeon Deterrents?

When people get pigeons in their homes, their roofs or their businesses, they want to know "what are pigeon deterrents?" While there are some things that you can do, repellents are not one of them. Repellents which are sold online do little to get you rid of the pigeons. Instead there are other things that you can do that are a lot more effective. One of those things is to use bird spikes. Placing spikes on your fence or on your roof takes the space where pigeons would usually land and makes it impossible for them to stay there.

Another answer to the question of "what are pigeon deterrents?" is to use decoys. A lot of people get statues or scarecrows that look like a predator, but in reality you can use balloons and get the same effect. Placing the balloons on the landing area can deter the pigeons because it looks as a predator from the top and it also reduces the landing area. The method has been used in Japan by farmers for a long time and it has proven relatively effective for a short period of time. Others use audio systems, but they are not as effective as spikes or decoys. Generally speaking the birds will get used to noises and decoys; you are better off using exclusion techniques or making their roost uncomfortable for them to perch on.
